The rules include, “1: No buying or acquiring new plastic. 2: No cooking with plastic or storing food in plastic. 3: Minimize all other plastic use.” Although this may seem to be quite the challenge, the benefits of a less-dependent-plastic America is countless. According to the Huffington Post, “The EPA reports that in 2009, only seven percent of total plastic waste was recycled. Seven percent, out of the 30 million tons of plastic waste generated in one year.” It’s true, plastic has become a way of life for all Americans but keeping facts like those in mind, a small reduction in your plastic consumption couldn’t kill you, right?
